The mental load is real — and it has a cost
It’s not just about being busy. Carrying the invisible weight of family admin affects focus, confidence and wellbeing. Taking it seriously is the first step to doing something about it.
The Mum Desk exists because I lived the overwhelm myself — and I knew there had to be a better way. I’m here to take the mental load off working mums, and to help employers build workplaces where parents can actually thrive.

When I went back to work after having my children, I quickly realised that the mental load doesn’t clock off when you sit down at your desk. The childcare research, the school applications, the funding forms, the logistics — it all kept piling up, quietly draining the headspace I needed to do my job well and be present at home.
I started helping friends and family navigate the same challenges — researching their options, pulling together plans, cutting through the confusion — and realised how much of a difference it made. Not just practically, but emotionally. When someone else takes the research off your plate and hands you a clear path forward, it changes everything.
The Mum Desk grew from that. A service built around the real, specific, often-overlooked challenges that working mums face — and a genuine belief that employers have both the opportunity and the responsibility to help.

Practical support starts with a specific task. I focus on useful research, clear options and organised next steps, shaped around the family’s circumstances.
There’s no one-size-fits-all answer to childcare, flexible working or family planning. I take the time to understand your specific situation and give you something genuinely useful.
Employers can make practical help available alongside their existing policies. I work with organisations that want to understand what would be useful to their working parents.
My background spans research, project management and family support — and I’ve spent years navigating the systems, policies and practicalities that working parents face. I know how to find the right information quickly, how to cut through the jargon, and how to turn a complicated situation into a clear, workable plan.
